Roy Jones' Porsche 924 Carrera GT - Martini Edition
The car started out as a 1986 924S belonging to one of our technicians Greg Quaterman. Greg completely serviced the engine and fitted new belts, tensioners and seals as well as adding a Koni M030 damper, spring and anti roll bar kit coupled with 944S2 25mm rear torsion bars. Greg sold the car to Roy Jones as they both had the same vision, to create a 924 Carrera GT homage with an early 1980's LeMans feel to it.
The budget was set at £4,000. This was to include the body kit, colour change from blue to white with Martini stripes and logos to match. Being a keen golfer, Roy wanted to retain the rear seat and blind for his clubs and the interior was to also remain fairly standard except for a new dashboard cover, white dials, start button, alloy pedal set and sports steering wheel.
The rather large 19" LeMans style wheels came courtesy of Roy's 911 which he had been refurbished in Navy Blue to complement the Martini stripes. New body seals, a 968 spoiler & a full 4 wheel geometry finished the car off to make a nice daily cruiser.
The car has been featured in 911 & Porsche World magazine. Please see below for photos of both the build up and the finished car, and info about to the modifications made to the car and the article in 911 & Porsche World.

911 and Porsche World article
The car was featured in the July 2011 issue of 911 and Porsche World magazine.
Here's what 911 and Porsche World had to say about the car:
"If the imagery of the wide-arch Carrera GT turns you on, you don't need to spend big bucks to achieve the look: here's an example of what can be done with a standard 924 on a modest budget."
"Porscheshop built this 924 Carrera GT replica for a customer. Based on a 924S the conversion was budgeted at just £4000. Martini livery is a homage to the Le Mans endurance Porsches."
